Jonas Budris

Tenor Jonas Budris is a versatile soloist and ensemble musician, engaging early music and modern premieres with equal passion. He is pleased to be singing with the Portland Bach Experience again, after his 2019 debut with the group in Monteverdi's Vespro Della Beata Virgine.

Mr. Budris has performed concerts and recorded albums with such groups as Cut Circle, Blue Heron, the Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Baroque, Emmanuel Music, the Thirteen, Yale Choral Artists, and the Skylark Vocal Ensemble. He is featured in the GRAMMY-nominated recordings Crossing Over and It's a Long Way (Skylark Vocal Ensemble), as well as Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria (Boston Baroque). An avid performer of J.S. Bach's vocal works, he sings in Emmanuel Music's weekly Bach cantata series, and was an Adams Vocal Fellow at the Carmel Bach Festival. On the opera stage, Mr. Budris has performed principal and supporting roles with Pegasus Early Music, Opera Boston, OperaHub, Guerilla Opera, and Odyssey Opera. He has originated roles for numerous opera premieres, including Giver of Light (John), The Fall of the House of Usher (The Friend), Heloise and Abelard (Brother William), and Island of Peoples (Tenor). Originally from Martha’s Vineyard, Mr. Budris holds a degree in Environmental Science & Engineering from Harvard College.
