Laura del Sol Jiménez

Colombian Flutist Laura del Sol Jiménez performed with the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra and Colombia National Symphony Orchestra before moving to the United States in 2016. Laura has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician, and with orchestras in China, Japan, Israel, Italy, Argentina, and Chile. In 2015, Laura founded the Linos trio, which toured Colombia and produced an album premiering music of contemporary Latin American composers. Laura has dedicated much of her career to commissioning and performing works of Latin American composers. Laura, originally from the coffee-belt Colombian town of Calarcá, has uniquely experienced the power of music to heal communities in a war-torn country. To help provide musical resources to underserved Colombian communities, Laura founded the Orpheus Cultural Foundation, dedicated to achieving social inclusion and encouraging arts development in communities devastated by Colombia's 50-year war. Laura holds a doctoral and a master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a bachelor’s degree from the Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá.
