Maren Rothfritz

Violist Maren Rothfritz is a passionate artist and educator who enjoys seeking colorful musical expressions across a wide range of repertoire old and new. She is a member of several chamber music ensembles (notably the Argus Quartet) and serves as viola faculty at Brooklyn College. From 2016 to 2018 she was a Fellow with Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect. Previously, she completed her master’s degree with Kim Kashkashian at New England Conservatory. Her festival credits include Yellow Barn, Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute, the Lucerne Festival Academy, and Keshet Eilon. Growing up in Germany, Maren entered the Hochschule für Musik Detmold at the age of sixteen, studying with Prof. Diemut Poppen. She subsequently attended the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she studied with Nobuko Imai. Currently, she is working towards her Doctorate of Musical Arts at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
