NPR says Bach's Brandenburg Concertos are "not only as good as music gets — it's as good as it gets, period. As good as existence, reality, life and the world." We're inclined to agree.
This year's Portland Bach Experience Brandenburg concert features the dazzling No. 5 — written for flute, harpsichord, and violin — alongside the exuberant Cantata 182 with full orchestra and choir. Part of our annual Brandenburg cycle, this is Bach at his most inventive, most alive, and most completely, unreasonably himself.
